Wow it really has been a while since I've blogged. Here is a quick catch up...
I convinced Mike to take us camping this year for our anniversary. We only went for a few days and stayed in a camp ground with toilets and fresh water but it was fun to go for our first time as a family.
We got VERY dirty, my tin foil meals didn't turn out, and our air mattress wouldn't stay filled but we still had fun. They had these large black ants around the camp and Alex would take them and put them in his hot wheels cars and wanted them to act like people. He got angry at them and would smash them if they didn't do what he wanted them too which obviously they didn't do very well at! So...Alex thinned out the ant population a little while we were there!
I made Alex into Bob the Builder this year. Bob the Builder is his new obsession. He now says, "Mom, I NEED Bob!" when he wants to watch an episode. Alex couldn't be more happy with his costume. We got a full length mirror out so he could see himself and he sat in front of it for an hour.
At the Church Halloween Party he won 1st price for his costume. We also went out trick or treating and he loved going door to door to get candy. Sometimes he would say, "Trick or Treat" and sometimes he would just wiggle his bottom. The first house we went to he tried to walk right in when they opened the door.
We got our first snow this year pretty early so I bundled Alex up and we went outside to go play. He LOVES the snow this year. Even walking back and forth to our car he has walk in the little snow we still have. Sledding is a must this year!
For Thanksgiving we headed up to my Grandma's house in Idaho Falls. It was just my mom, my younger brother Jordan, Mike, Alex and me but it was enjoyable to get together. The weather was beautiful so we were able to take Alex out to go play.
Alex is still figuring out the wheel concept so Grandma took pity on him and pulled him around with a string. We also went and feed the birds by the temple (I guess we aren't supposed to anymore but we are from out of town so we figured the rules don't apply!) Alex absolutely loved it. The birds got a little close sometimes so Alex would go chase them back into the river. If they took too long to jump back in he would give their bottoms a little kick. I'll have to post some videos.
He was also trying to intimidate the ducks daring them to show their faces on the grass. Pretty much saying, "Come on, you want a piece of this!"
At the ward Christmas Party, Alex got to meet Santa. He was so excited! We kept asking Alex while he was in line what he was going to tell Santa he wanted for Christmas. He said, "trucks," so we told him he had to tell Santa when he asks. While Alex was on Santa's lap this was how the conversation went:
Santa: "What is your name?"
Alex: "Trucks"
Santa: "How old are you?"
Alex: "Trucks"
Santa: "Have you been a good boy?"
Alex: "Trucks"
Also, my Grandma passed away last week. She has been suffering for 10 years now and it was her time to go. She has been doing dialysis for 10 years and after breaking her hip the other day and being stuck in a bed, she decided to stop doing dialysis. She died 9 days later with all of her family surrounding her. The funeral wasn't a sad event. We all know that she is now with my Grandfather and her beloved twin-sister and pain free. I'm so grateful for the impact she made in my life and the skills that have been passed down from her to my mom and now to me.
My grandmothers stuff was then distributed to the family and I ended up with a Hide-a-bed Sofa (to replace our couch on cinder blocks,) a almost brand new queen bed and box-spring (to replace our stained, used hotel bed,) a water bath canner, water cooler, fabric, and a tricycle for Alex (which he isn't getting until Christmas.) We are grateful to finally have somewhere for guests to sleep when they visit.
