AHHH a Diet I can do!
I am so grateful to my good friend Mandy for introducing me to a diet that will not only help me loose weight but will improve my overall health. I started the South Beach Diet not too long ago and I love it. It focuses on cutting out carbs. especially simple sugars. For my high blood sugar this diet is perfect for me. It also focuses on the belly fat that I have in abundance. What I love most about it is I never feel hungry. I'm able to eat three large healthy meals a day with snacks in between. Vegetables and certain meats are a large part of the diet and I've been helped on how to prepare them effectively. I don't feel like I'm missing out on my meals. The meals are different than the high sugar and high fat meals I would cook before but these meals are still tasty and flavorful meals. I now use a lot of natural flavoring such as spices, peppers, onions, and garlic to flavor my food.
I worry with some diets that I won't be able to maintain them or once I incorporate some sugars I will gain all the weight back on again. I really don't have that worry with this diet. Another problem with other diets is I never know what I can eat or how to make them. This diet has full menus and recipes that you follow. How easy is that? Another plus about this diet is that I feel happier during the day. I have more patience with the children I work with and anyone around children knows that is a HUGE factor. I really think that the sugar that was in my bloodstream was making me moody just like it affects children by making them hyper.
I strongly suggest this diet to anyone who have a desire to eat and feel better. My husband who hasn't started the diet usually has my meals with me even enjoys everything that I cook more than I do. I also have my work colleagues that are very interested in what I'm eating every day. I usually get asked what I had for breakfast and dinner the night before when I first get to work. I then get asked about my lunch when I get back. I've been able to share a few of the snacks with them and they loved them. I think that anyone who isn't against vegetables will find this diet to be very effective and easy. I am going to keep my blog updated on how I'm doing. That way I feel like I have to report what I've done and I will most likely stick too it.
Here is the two books I am currently using. I found both at our our public library. I have also recently found and will be adding to my collection the Quick and Easy cookbook with 30 minute meals and also the Parties and Holidays Cookbook.
