Frugal Red Kitchen

Since I'm home all day I've come to hate not having color and decorations up in my apartment.  The white walls are starting to close in on me.  Even though we aren't going to be here much longer I decided to start my decorating now and the next apartment I will have them ready to go.  I decided, I love the color red and I want to make it the general theme through out my home.  The first place I started was my kitchen.  I put red, black and white together to form the perfect color combination for my kitchen.   

The first project that I've completely finished was my picture frames.  I found these four picture frames at the Goodwill and painted them black.  I got these textured mats at Walmart (which are really cool looking but you can't tell in the picture) and I painted the small inner mat black.  Finally, I found a  website online that has GREAT free pictures.  I found some red food pictures (because this is going in my kitchen) and cropped them until I was satisfied with them.  I sent the pictures to Walmart to get them printed and WALLA...I have a frugal picture college! Look-a-Like

I have been told over and over again how much Alex looks like Mike.  I also believed that, until, I tried to de-clutter some closets and I came across some pictures of me when I was younger.  The picture quality isn't the best because I had to scan the pictures in but they work.

I don't think Alex has my head shape, hair line, or my nose but I think I have his other facial features covered.  I have a disclaimer for the picture of me.  My hair didn't normally look like that.  My mom fixed my hair with hair spray and then put me in the back seat of the car with the window open.  

I love how you can tell this picture was taken in the 80's.  Look at those glasses and that mustache! 

 

I do have a younger brother but he just wasn't around yet.  I'm not trying to exclude him in all of our family pictures.

Happy Easter

We were walking through Walmart and were able to get a free picture with the Easter Bunny!  Unfortunately, I'm the only one that is actually looking at the camera but it was still fun.  

I decided that Alex needed to dress up for Easter but I'm on a budget so I used my bargin skills.  I found the best bow tie in the Target bargin bins for $1 that I had to get.  I also found the cute hat he has on at a Goodwill down in Walla Walla.  Isn't the goodwill the greatest!

3 Months Old

Just thought I would share some cute new pictures of Alex.  He hit 3 months on April 1st!  I can't believe how much he is able to do now and how big he is getting especially after seeing my friend's new little baby.

April Fools!

I had some fun for April Fools this year.  I decided to make something that I had seen on the internet, Meatloaf Cupcakes with mashed potato frosting.  They looked good from the top but from the side you could tell it was a bunch of meat.  I got Mike to pick the cupcake up before he realized they weren't actually cupcakes.  He then didn't believe me that it was just meat loaf with pink mashed potatoes on top so I had to take a bite before he would.  It was pretty funny!  

I also tried another trick on Mike.  He likes to drink juice so I told him I made this really good juice from koolaid and white grape juice BUT...I had made jello in the bottom of the container instead. Mike got it out of the fridge but it jiggled (like jello is supposed to do) and he figured it out before he tried to pour it into his glass.

I hope all of you had a great April Fools and atleast fooled or was fooled at some point today!
